I Still Hate Steve Slater
July 7, 2008
Well it was a wet and wild British (Probably the only time wet and wild is used in the same sentence as British) Grand Prix yesterday and after a good start Hamilton found himself ahead of Raikonnen going into the first Pit stops. For some reason the rationale of which I still can’t fathom Ferrari chose not to change Kimi`s tiers and kept him out on the Fairly worn out Intermediates.
This as expected did not work out and the lead which Hamilton had before the pits of 2 seconds grew to 23 in the first lap out. Things only got worse from there as it started to rain pretty heavily and Kimi saw his Ferrari being overtaken by just about everyone and fell rather rapidly to 11th place.
This was cue for Steve Slater to start with his chauvinistic commentary vis-à-vis where he does nothing but praise everything Hamilton. True Hamilton did well to win a quiet difficult race where everyone seemed to be skidding all over the place, but even after we all knew that he had sewn up the winner’s spot well and truly “Steve I Love Hamilton Slater” continued with his unabashed brown nosery.
At one point perhaps realizing how far he went with comments like “Watch how Hamilton gently slides it in..” he stated “Its not that I am biased towards Hamilton ,or that because he is British…” In fact he felt the need to state this twice more during the course of the race which goes to show the verbal assault viewers who do not happen to be British or Mclaren supporters had to endure.
I have no problem with someone loving Hamilton in a way that is both admirable and a little disturbing (refer to sliding it in gently comment), I believe in freedom of speech and a right to like, support and praise whoever one feels like doing so. What I do have a problem with however is paying for (last time I checked cable TV was a paid subscription) coverage in which I am forced to listen to non stop “AAAmilton this and AAMilton that”.
So Star/ESPN either get you commentators in line (i.e. get an un biased one) or watch as you lose viewers to the free internet sites. Get some commentators who will give balanced opinions not restricted to “The Ferrari/Renault looks light on fuel” IMHO I`d say get Chris Goodwin back and get rid of Steve Slater, I found Chris Goodwin both Knowledgeable about F1 as well as un-opinionated despite being a Test driver for Mclaren.

I TOTALLY AGREE………………
Steve slater is an idiot. He’s always talking about Lewis.
The worst thing was in the Canadian Gp 2008: When Lewis crashed into Kimi, Steve “The Moron” Slater blamed the rules instead of Lewis. If only I could meet that guy once, I’ll punch the daylights out of him.

As the go-carter, Hamilton’s, driving, with every passing week, becomes more arrogant and unsportsmanlike, the condescending attitudes, excuses and rationalizations of his shill, Steve Slater, and whatever other boorish and boring limey lickspittle is Hamilton’s co-barker of the minute, also degenerate.
Slater’s alternating excuses for and/or lavish praises of the go-carter take up about a minute of every average minute and a half lap.
Hamilton, who makes more mistakes and displays more bad manners and unsportsmanlike conduct per lap than, say, Jack Brabham, Bruce McLaren or Jackie Stewart made or displayed during their entire careers, needs taking behind the woodshed for a good arse kicking.
And perhaps his chief apologist, Slater, might go with him and commentate …. that is …. commiserate …. just before also getting his own arse soundly kicked for commentary-spoiling sycophantish sucking up services to his cocky countryman.
