Why I want to be George Bush

A lot has been written lately about the Ronaldo transfer saga and the slave/is not a slave but millionaire debate,so i`ll not repeat all that here.But lately i see a tendency amongst the clubs (especially the bigger ones) to treat their players if not as slaves,definately as rented property.

I`m not just talking about Ronaldo,after he knew what he was doing when he signed the contract with Manchester United, whether a club should force a player to stay when he doesn`t want to is another story. Rather I am talking about the attitude taken by AC Milan and Barcelona with regards to player participation in the Olympics.

Barca,point blank refuse to let any of their players leave for the Beijing games, Ronaldinho only got a chance because he transferred to Milan,who ironically enough refuse to let long term signee Kaka play while allowing Ronaldinho to.

In my uninformed opinion,the olympics only ever come once every four years,the champions league comes around every year.if they are not allowed to wear their countries colors this time around a lot of the players may not get a chance at the next games.So the clubs asking them to forfeit this chance to do possibly the something we all dream of as children,play for our country and hear our country men cheer for us as we go for gold,is quiet frankly childish,stupid, and to put not quiet a blunt point to it,acting like a slave owner.

So while i might not agree with Seep Blatter on most things,he was right albeit in the wrong case,clubs do treat their players like slaves,well paid but ultimately chained by their balls slaves.
