The Presidential Debates
For someone from India, used to idiots pretending to be administrators of the country but in reality are nothing more than uncouth thugs, watching the presidential debates today was a real treat. both candidates came of as smart well educated intelligent men.
Before we start though let me clarify that all through this presidential election I’ve for some reason not been comfortable supporting Obama and rather felt Mc Cain was the better candidate, why I felt like this I wasn’t really sure, after todays debate I’m pretty sure it was not Obama but rather his supporters that I was most uncomfortable with.
The Democratic primaries where Obama went up against former first lady Hillary Clinton was an eye opener about how some Obama supporters had such a narrow minded view.If you were a Clinton supporter you were literally classified as a retard, the whole point seemed to be that if you were for Clinton you were a red neck racist against whom Darwin’s theory would soon be at work.Of course since I was in India during the primaries all my information on the campaign was off the internet, which I admit is probably not the best guide of the Average person, so forgive me if I’m way off base.
Back to the debate, watching the debates today Mc Cain came off more like someone stuck in the past, the constant harking back to Reagan painted him as someone disconnected from the realities of today.Obama’s language both his spoken and body language came off confident,McCain came off as the defensive one and Obama surprisingly came off the more aggressive one considering the Republicans always point out how green Obama is with respect to foreign policy, what I saw tonight was Obama seemingly holding his own against Mc Cain’s baiting, Mc Cain’s needling of Obama’s willingness to talk with Iran, just showed (atleast to me) that Obama being the more open minded candidate as opposed to Mc Cain’s “No talking to Iran, till you play by our rules” attitude.
Mc Cain also missed a few tricks in that he probably could have called Obama on his economic policy, which Obama does not seem to have completely ironed out if you ask me. Obama also unfortunately for him could not answer with enough confidence his lack of belief in the surge that has brought about the change in Iraq, Mc Cain on the other hand could not answer the questions on change in focus from Afghanistan to iraq at a crucial time in the war on terror.
So over all this debate was probably a draw, which if you ask me plays into Obama’s hands because the subjects of the next few debates on paper atleast play to his strong points, so if the republicans don’t up their game in the next few days leading up to November the next President of the United States will be Barack Hussien Obama.

Thin is Sin
Ladies and Gentlemen, please join me in commiserating with America`s politicians, while politicos in India just have to base their candidacy on any of 3 major platforms viz:
- Cynical pretensions of supporting the aspirations of Muslims and other minorities across the country when in actuality finding newer ways of robbing the country blind
- Cynical pretensions of supporting the aspirations of Hindus countrywide when in actuality finding newer ways of robbing the country blind
- Actually giving a damn about things like Growth of the Economy, environmental damage,Nuclear security,Foreign policy and controlling poverty but in actuality knowing that he/she will lose.
